Eglinton Country Park and Castle Ruins
Set over 400 hectares Eglinton Country Park gives you the space and freedom to enjoy a wide range of pursuits.
Eglinton Country Park is situated within the historic boroughs of Kilwinning and Irvine and was developed around the ancient Eglinton Estate, home for 600 years to the Earls of Eglinton and Winton.
Whatever the season, there are a range of activities to enjoy the beauty of the tranquil area; walking, horse riding, fishing on the lochside or simply watching the world go by. A programme of events, such as guided walks, are organized for throughout the year by the countryside rangers.
Located within the visitor centre is an interpretative display on the history of Eglinton Country Park where you will also find advice and information from friendly staff who hold lots of local knowledge.
Inside the park you will also find the remains of Eglinton Castle.
For visitors looking for a longer stay the park has established a 50-pitch campsite which includes 30 hard-standing pitches. It is situated in a pleasant spot where the setting sun provides a beautiful backdrop and is close to the Country Park Visitor Centre, Cafe and play areas.
There is also a gift shop situated in the visitor centre and offers a variety of related gifts and souvenirs.
For those who likes a good walk in the nature, there are three walking routes which cover the full extent of the park. These range from 2.2 miles to 4 miles.
The walks take in the central areas and extend further out to Corsehill and Sourlie.
The grade of routes vary from flat to steeper sections, with some dirt paths throughout.
